The rosary is not just a prayer; it is a wonderful means of sanctification and spiritual progress, one of the best schools of virtue and Christian life. Symbolically, the rosary represents a ladder that, through prayer, leads us to Heaven. Regardless of the number of beads, the rosary is always made in the form of a circle—a symbol of eternity and continuous Christian prayer to the Creator. It also symbolizes the martyrs' crown and the reward for those who have known God through prayer.

We start with the sign of the cross:

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. (3 times)
Glory to You, our God, glory to You. Heavenly King, Comforter, Spirit of Truth, present everywhere and filling all things, Treasury of blessings and Giver of life, come and dwell within us, cleanse us from all impurity, and save our souls, O Good One. (From Easter to Ascension, instead of the prayer "Heavenly King": Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and upon those in the tombs bestowing life. Amen. (3 times))

On the first large bead:

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds; Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made. Who, for us men and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again, with glory, to judge the quick and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end. And I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Lord and Giver of life; who proceeds from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets. And I believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

On the three small beads:

First small bead: Glory be to the Father, who created us, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus, for you have borne the Savior of our souls.
Second small bead: Glory be to the Son who redeemed us, now and always and forever and ever. Amen. Hail Mary...
Third small bead: Glory be to the Holy Spirit who enlightened us, now and always and forever and ever. Amen. Hail Mary…

On the second large bead:

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.
We meditate on the First Mystery:
O My Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of Your mercy.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

On the ten small beads:

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

On the large beads between the decades:

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.
After each decade, the following is said:
O My Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of Your mercy.
Our Father…

At the end of the rosary:

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To you do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to you do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, your eyes of mercy towards us; and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!

When and which mysteries to recite:

(In the Eastern tradition, the Rosary Mysteries are divided on specific days: Joyful Mysteries on Monday and Tuesday, Luminous Mysteries on Thursday, Sorrowful Mysteries on Wednesday and Friday, Glorious Mysteries on Saturday and Sunday.)
